Every night, the millionaire’s son woke up screaming. Doctors were clueless — until the nanny

Leo lay there, small and fragile, curled in on himself like a wounded animal. His sobs were quieter now, but Clara could still hear the tremors in his breathing. She approached slowly, not wanting to startle him, and gently placed a hand on his back.

“It’s okay, sweetheart,” she whispered. “I’m here.”

Leo turned toward her, his eyes wide and pleading. “Mrs.

Clara, please… it hurts.”

She nodded, reassuring him with a soft smile. “Let’s see what’s hurting you, okay?”

With careful hands, she lifted Leo’s head slightly and pulled the pillow out from under him. It was heavier than it should have been, and as she unzipped the silk cover, she discovered why.

Inside, buried beneath the plush surface, was a network of small electronic devices and wires. Clara’s heart dropped as realization washed over her. Someone had planted these beneath the pillow—a high-tech nightmare hidden in the guise of luxury.

Her flashlight gleamed off tiny metal edges, and she could see faint red marks on Leo’s skin where he had pressed against them. “This isn’t right,” she muttered, more to herself than to Leo. “Wh-what is it?” Leo asked, his voice trembling.

“I’m not sure, darling, but we’re going to find out,” Clara assured him as she carefully removed the pillow from the bed, examining the wiring more closely. It looked like some sort of auditory device, perhaps designed to emit frequencies only perceptible at close range—enough to disrupt sleep, cause discomfort, maybe even pain. Why would anyone do this to a child?

Her mind immediately landed on Victoria, with her practiced smiles and icy demeanor. Could she have done something so cruel? To ensure Leo was a constant trouble, a source of exhaustion and frustration for James?

Clara took a deep breath, anger simmering beneath her calm exterior. “Leo, why don’t you come with me?” she suggested gently. “You can sleep in my room tonight, away from all of this.”

The relief on Leo’s face was immediate.

He scrambled out of bed, clutching onto Clara with desperate gratitude. She picked him up, cradling him as she carried him down the hallway to her quarters. Once there, she tucked him into her own bed, smoothing back his hair and whispering soothing words until his eyes finally fluttered shut.

As Leo drifted into an untroubled sleep, Clara’s thoughts churned. In the morning, she would confront James. She would tell him everything she had discovered, show him the cruel device hidden in the pillow.

She had no doubts about who had orchestrated this torment, but now she had the evidence to prove it. But for now, she sat vigil by Leo’s side, ensuring his rest was peaceful and uninterrupted. The night stretched on, but in the quiet of her room, Leo slept soundly, free from pain, for the first time in weeks.

Clara knew that the morning would bring challenges, but she was ready. Leo had suffered enough, and she would see to it that he never endured such fear and anguish again. Whatever it took, she would protect him.

And as dawn began to break over the horizon, Clara felt a renewed sense of purpose. She had uncovered the hidden truth, and now it was time to make things right.
